It was a 4 hour flight from Gatwick to Heraklion. I managed to while away some of the time by practicing perspective from my seat.
I didn’t get to draw that much in Crete, mainly because the children kept dragging me into the swimming pool. I think there might be a market for waterproof sketchpads and pens here. There were lots of hot people hanging around the pool so I tried to draw them while pretending not to look at them.
I had the opportunity to visit the Archaeological Museum in Heraklion. I think it must be one of the best museums I’ve ever been in. The ancient Minoan artifacts seemed to be in incredibly good condition considering their age. I loved the octopus pots. Some of those designs seem almost contempoary, and yet they’re approximately 3500-4000 years old! Unbelievable.
Some more sketches from the poolside.
On the way home.
Funny. He looks just like my kids watching Cars. 🙂
